Carrying the endless possibilities campaign further
In the last blog about NMB Bank’s new corporate campaign “We see endless possibilities (हामी देख्छौं अपार संभावना)”, we talked about the bank's overall belief on three bottom-line approaches as a member of the Global Alliance for Banking on Values. We also talked about the returning migrant's friendly loan product to encourage new business setup and absorption of the skills these migrants brought to our native land.
We also touched upon the bank’s continuous involvement with sustainable energy generation projects highlighting the bank's commitment to sustainability. In this blog, we will talk about the bank’s commitments to agriculture-based industries and further motivation for the working class to save more through various banking products.
As a sector that continues to contribute significantly to the national GDP, Nepal’s economy has always been reliant on agriculture (27% of the GDP). To ensure that the bank’s financial services are accessible to the farmers, NMB Bank puts agriculture lending as one of its top priorities. It is its belief that better access to finance can improve the productivity of farmers by helping them incorporate modern agricultural tools into their age-old farming practices.
One of the major hindrances to the access of finance to farmers in rural and semi-urban areas is the lack of BFIs in their close vicinity. NMB Bank is continually expanding its network to reach these unbanked areas of Nepal. Not only this, NMB bank provides farmers with special interest rate loans to help the farmers scale and improve the yield of their crops. The bank has also recently partnered with Nepal Warehouse Company Limited (NWCL) to develop warehousing solutions that will help farmers find the best value for their produce.
Another area where the bank sees tremendous possibilities is Women Entrepreneurship. Bank’s belief of more women entering into formal economic generating activities will help the country’s overall economic outlook has led the bank to develop a special loan product tailored to encourage women Entrepreneurship. With its “NMB Nari Udhyami Karja”, the bank seeks to provide financing of up to 160% of the collateral at a subsidized interest rate of only 6%. Apart from this, the beneficiaries of the loan will also get strategic consulting from the bank's staff to help women entrepreneurs scale and grow their business.
Apart from the above loan products, the bank has also come up with several deposit products targeted to different segments of the market to encourage savings for a secure and bright future. The savings could be key for any Nepali to plan for a bigger and more fruitful investment in the future. Such savings and the subsequent investment could unlock endless possibilities to one’s way of life.
As outlined in the last blog about the endless possibilities campaign, the bank has managed to give real meaning to its corporate messaging with such innovative products which will help Nepalese envision a better future for themselves and a country as a whole.
